CUET 2023 has been in news for the new changes it has brought with the New Education Policy. The students can be relieved that pursuing a graduate course in central university has become easier starting this year. The need for the change of an exam pattern or inclusion of all the central university across India was important as it gave students from all states and cities across the country to study in some good central universities and choose a course/subject of their choice and interest.
It was noticed that certain states across India had students scoring a 100% in the class 12th board exam, which meant the competition to get into various renowned universities like Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University; JamiaMiliaIslamiaetc had become very strong. On top of this the merit list to get admission in the best colleges become very difficult adding a lot of pressure of students. Hence UGC organized to form a committee to bring about members of faculty across various universities and educationists to realize that there is a need for a change in the structure of admission process for under graduate courses across the country. Hence to make it a little easier for students UGC made a one-step solution through the Common Entrance Test for students which will have a similar exam across all the states and cities to apply for undergraduate courses.
Until 2021, CUET was known as Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET), this had only 14 central universities participate in it. Hence the centers of exam were also less. It was observed that since the exam centers conducting CUCET were few, not enough students could appear and apply for the exam. However, in 2023 as 54 central universities are participating exam centers have been increased too.
CUET 2023 will have exam centers placed in 543 cities across the country and 13 cities overseas. The students will be allowed to select two cities for exam enters. The exam center will be allotted basis the cities they have selected. The information will be mentioned in their Admit Card. It is important for the students to carry their admit card on the examination date and appear at the same exam center as mentioned on their admit card. If a student fails to appear in their exam center, they would not be allowed to write the exam in another center. The students are advised to carry a photo ID proof of themselves on the day of examination along with their admit card. The admit cards will be issues to the students by the first week of June 2023, and the exams will start by the first week of July 2023. Once a particular exam center has been allotted to a student they will have to appear for their examination in the same center, they will not be able to change it later.
