The UGC has clearly mentioned that all the central universities will have to be a part of CUET from now onwards. This year it is going to be 54 central universities which will be a part of CUET 2024 along with many state and private universities.  While the central university is going to consider only the CUET score, the state universities and private universities may keep a certain percentage of 12th-board result as a part of their eligibility criteria for admission.

Basis CUET 2024 exam pattern The exam will take place in two shifts. Shift 1 will include three sections first section Language, the second section will include Domain Test and third section will include General Aptitude. While it is compulsory to attend Shift 1, Shift 2 is optional.

Section 1 Language- In this section, the students are asked to select from 13 Languages. It is an important selection, so the student must make sure that they select the language in which they are the most fluent. The choice of Languages includes Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telegu, Tamil, Malayalam, Urdu, Kannada, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Uria, and English.Section 2 Domain Test- Domain test refers to the subjects that you want to give your exam in. This could be any subject of your choice; you can select a maximum of 2 subjects. However, just choosing 1 subject is important. In this section, you can also choose a subject that you did not study in school. Hence the cross-stream option is also available here.

Section 3 General Aptitude

General Aptitude is an optional choice for a student from Cross Stream, This act as an advantage for the students who have not studied a particular subject in school and still like to study it in their graduation. They can select that subject in their Domain and the general aptitude score can help them justify their choice of subject. General Aptitude involves General Awareness, verbal ability, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning & Current Awareness.

While shift 1 is extremely important there is Shift 2 which is optional, the main reason for appearing for shift 2 could be if out of the 13 languages offered in shift 1 the student may have a need to pursue a course in another language. There are about 19 other languages that a student can refer to they are French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Sainthali, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, and Chinese.

There is also an option to pursue 4 additional subjects in the section Domain. This can be helpful if a student wants to pursue a particular course that is exceptional in any of the colleges, they can appear more than 2 subjects so their chances of getting admission in a particular college increase.

This article is useful to refer to for students appearing for CUET 2024. As per the National Testing Agency, it is believed that more information regarding the syllabus and division of marks etc. will be shared on their official website i.e. nta.ac.in.
