Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, formerly Indraprastha University is a state government university located in Delhi, Dwarka. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University conducts IPU CET exam every year so that students can apply to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in colleges which are affiliated to GGSIPU. Full form of IPU CET is (Indraprastha University common entrance test ). Students join engineering, law, administration, computer application, journalism, mass communication, management, nursing , medical and many more fields. There are 120 colleges affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University of New Delhi. Out of 120 colleges, 35 colleges are government institutes affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. The remaining 85 colleges are self-financed institutes affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. The colleges which are affiliated to IPU offer multiple undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses in multiple fields like engineering, management, nursing, medical, finance and many more.Total Seats for bachelor of computer applications in IPU is around 2140.
Admission can be done through two ways, counseling and direct admission. When a student goes through the IPU counseling process,then the student has to participate in counselling by paying a fee online. Then the next step is registration, upload documents, document verification and choice filling (where students choose some of the colleges which they like and want to get admitted there). Then the student has to wait for seat allotment through various rounds of counseling. The counselling process takes 1-2 months time to get a college allotted.
There are various rounds of counseling – first round, second round, third round, sliding around and spot admission. The main important thing is that the student should be happy with the college he/she is allotted. If the student is not happy with the college allotted, then the student enters the next round of counseling until the student is happy about the allotment of college.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission
Students would have completed 10+2 with 50% in eligibility subjects.
- Students should have appeared for IPU CET and should have qualified IPU CET Exam for BCA course.
- The compulsory subject for BCA admission – Maths/computer science/ information technology/ information practice. Students should have any one of the following in 12th.
When a student chooses Direct Admission for BCA, Every university and college has 25 -30 % seats reserved for direct admission for undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses like BCA and MCA. Direct admission in other words is called management quota seat. Universities approve direct admission in various colleges according to the norms.
Admission Process – Parents or students can speak to admission managers over telephonic call and understand about the college, course, infrastructure, faculties, facilities, placements. Then the manager asks for education qualification and checks out whether the student is eligible for direct admission or not. If the student is eligible, then the student can get enrolled with the university or college by visiting the campus. Parents and students go for Campus Tour with the Admission Manager and check out the complete campus.
Then if parents and students like the campus then start the admission process where basic educational documents are necessary. The documents to be submitted are the 10th mark sheet, 12th mark sheet, IPU CET admit card, IPU CET rank card, Aadhar card copy and passport size photograph. Then the documents are verified and the student has to pay the course fee and the student is enrolled there.
